Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need a licence if the code is already open source?

SheepCat is free to download and use under the AGPLv3. However, AGPLv3 requires that if you modify SheepCat and distribute it or offer it as a network service to others, those modifications must be released as open source under the same licence. If you need to modify and distribute SheepCat without that obligation, contact chadwicksys13@gmail.com to enquire about a commercial licence.

How do I get a commercial licence?

Commercial licensing is handled directly — please reach out at chadwicksys13@gmail.com and we'll discuss your requirements.

Do I need an internet connection to use SheepCat?

Once installed, SheepCat runs entirely offline. An internet connection is only needed to download the app and, optionally, to pull Ollama LLM models.

What operating systems are supported?

SheepCat runs on any platform that supports Python 3.7+ and Tkinter — Windows, macOS, and Linux.
